High quality, bark mulch. Protects ground from frost in winter, hinders water evaporation in summer, and helps to suppress weeds by shading them out. All bare soil benefits from a cover of mulch as it increases moisture retention, prevents top soil from washing away and reduces soil compaction. As the particle size is relatively large, mulch will not decompose readily and will remain in place for longer.
